How Rosie became SO passionate about Yoni Eggs…

As the founder of Yoni Pleasure Palace, The Golden Yoni Membership and creator of Naked Awakening, I am passionate about teaching women how to slow down their self pleasure practice, tone their pelvic floor with the Yoni Egg, heal sexual blocks and learn to embrace their naked body, shame free!

Since experiencing a sexual awakening at a Jade Egg workshop in Bali in 2014, I decided to ditch my vibrator, quit my stressful corporate job and follow my heart (and pussy). I discovered how consistently using the Yoni Egg helped me have internal orgasms, heal my sexual trauma and feel more juicy and alive inside my vagina; a place that felt numb and de-sensitized after many years. My own personal experience became the catalyst for my work and my passion for making this connection and growth available for more people!

Ever wondered, What exactly does ‘Yoni’ mean?

Yoni is the Sanskrit term that means “sacred garden” and symbolizes the Hindu goddess, Shakti, who is the representation of feminine power. Consort of Shiva, Shakti is considered the divine force and the divine mother. According to Tantric texts, yoni is the source of life.

Yoni has been worshipped since ancient times and is known as women’s creative, sexual power.

What is a Yoni Egg and where do they originate from?

A Yoni egg is a small egg-shaped stone used inside the vagina to help strengthen and tone the pelvic floor muscles, which helps to prevent bladder leakages and enhance pleasure and lubrication by maintaining a healthy amount of blood flow to the pelvis. Nephrite Jade is the traditionally used gemstone for yoni egg practice. In Ancient China, the Queen and her concubines used a jade egg to help keep a “tight” and healthy reproductive system for the King and also heighten their sexual energy into spiritual energy. By wearing a kegel weight internally for 30 minutes a day, it can not only help to strengthen the pelvic floor, it can also help a woman be more orgasmic. You can take a closer look here

How do you use a Yoni Egg?

Using a yoni egg is a simple, yet profound practice. You simply insert the egg deep inside the vagina and practice a set of “kegel” exercises with it inside you.  It’s important that a woman doesn’t just shove the egg inside mindlessly, rather it’s a practice of surrender, slowing down and bringing gentle loving awareness to the entrance of your vagina and then guiding it inside (if you receive consent from your vagina). Many women have experienced a dishonouring of their boudnaries and unconsentual sex, so it’s important to take the time before using the egg to make sure your Yoni is ready for insertion. I provide an abundance of education, practices and meditations in The Golden Yoni Membership, You can check it out here.

What are the benefits of Yoni Eggs?

Yoni Egg are essentially egg-shaped crystal kegel weights that are used inside the vagina to strengthen and tone the pelvic floor (the vagina is a muscle, remember!) They all do the same thing on a physical level, however on an energetic level there are many different benefits. You can read about our crystal properties here. Some of the physical benefits of using a Yoni Egg include:

  • Increased libido
  • Tone pelvic floor
  • Better bladder control
  • Increased natural lubrication
  • Stronger orgasms
  • More connection to Yoni and womb space
  • Post birth healing
  • Internal crystal healing
The physical benefits differ for all people depending on age, weight, whether you've had kids, operations, stress or sexual trauma.

Are Yoni Eggs connected to tantric arts? If so, can you explain how?

The yoni egg practice is an ancient tantric tradition that helps women connect to their feminine essence by reconnecting them to their womb-space, their portal of creation and life-force energy. When a woman is anchored in her womb, she is calm, steady, present and grounded in her feminine body, rather than in her masculine, doing, thinking body. The egg has a magical way of grounding women into their body, where they are most connected to their power. A fantastic book on this is Tao Tantric Arts for Women by Minke De Vos.

What are yoni eggs made of?

Our Yoni Pleasure Palace crystal eggs are made from only the highest quality, genuine GIA certified crystals from a mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil, as well as China and Mexico.

Check out our crystal properties page here to help you choose which Yoni Egg to select. The only crystals that are safe to use inside the vagina is Rose Quartz, Nephrite Jade, Red Carnelian, Amethyst, Green Aventurine, Black Obsidian and Clear Quartz.

We also sell Glass Yoni Eggs and silicon Kegel Weights for those who choose not to use crystals internally.

Do they come in different shapes and sizes?

Yoni Pleasure Palace offer three different sizes of Yoni Eggs including small, medium and large. They range in weight from 50 grams to 100 grams.

We generally suggest women starting with a medium size unless she has given birth vaginally more than two times, in which a large size is ideal because the larger the egg, the less the vaginal muscles need to work to hold the egg in place.

If a woman experiences pelvic tension or has a lot of vaginal tightness or has never had penetration before, a smaller egg is best and only used for shorter periods of time. Small eggs can also be used for advanced yoni egg users as the smaller the egg the harder it is to hold inside the vagina.

Shapes only vary slightly as they are hand carved making each egg unique.

Do you recommend any other practices to go along with the Yoni Egg?

YES! Women perform various practices including breathwork, meditation, yoni egg yoga, gentle exercise, foreplay, sex and so on. To learn more head to the Golden Yoni Membership to delve deeper.

Is the Yoni Egg safe for everyone?

A Yoni Egg is generally safe for most, however I always recommend people get the all clear from their health professional prior to starting any new practice. I urge pregnant women to use 6 weeks after birth and encourage women with prolapse to check with their GP first.

We have a helpful blog which goes into more detail about when to NOT use a yoni egg. Have a read of that article here.

What is your best piece of advice for women who want to connect with this sexual and spiritual health?

Rather than starting in the mind, start in the body! Incorporate in a practice of gazing at your yoni in the mirror, touching your yoni with massage oil, speaking with your yoni, and connecting with her. The Yoni, just like our brain, heart and gut, has its own wisdom and intellect. Our Yoni has a voice and when we begin to connect with our Yoni through yoni massage, yoni egg yoga and yoni inspired meditations, we begin to feel more grounded, clear, abundant and powerful.

Is there any other information regarding the yoni egg that you think our community should know?

It’s normal not to “feel” the egg when you first use it, so don’t worry if you put it inside and you don’t feel anything at all. Over time you will begin to feel more sensation, however the purpose isn’t to feel the egg inside you. Even if you can’t feel the egg inside you, it’s still acting as a weight resistance internally, which is activating the pelvic floor muscles. With this in mind, don’t overuse it otherwise you might fatigue your muscles. No more than 4 hours a day at a time. We generally recommend 30 minutes at a time, however it’s also important to listen to your body.

Can the egg get stuck or lost inside the body?

Also if you have a fear of the egg getting stuck or lost, remember that the vagina is a one-way street and the cervix is always closed, unless giving birth. Before wearing your egg, remember to insert your finger first and feel where your cervix is, so you know you can retrieve the egg. Use the yoni egg string to pull the egg out and if you’re using a non-drilled egg, simply squat down (ideally in the shower or bathroom) and insert a finger to school it out. You may like to gently bare down to guide it out, but please never push! The egg will always come out!!
