A Date with Pleasure: a Homecoming
A Date with Pleasure: a Homecoming
I thought I knew pleasure,
swore we had met before
For now I know,
I had only met the shell of pleasure
I hadn’t allowed her to touch me,
I’d met her, but never felt her.
Those who talked of pleasure, spoke of excitement, joy, ecstasy
But when we first met,
Ecstasy & joy were nowhere to be found
Butterflies did backflips in my stomach,
Unsure if birthed from anxiety or excitement.
The fear flushed through my veins when I met pleasure,
Feeling her intensity, with nowhere to hide
She saw me for all that I was
& that frightened me
She entered my body & explored spaces,
no one else could
Her presence is unlike any other,
She’s the one who made me feel whole
Pleasure took me to places I had never been,
Greater heights, immeasurable depths
She made me afraid,
For to know her, I had to feel
Pleasure came to me in full force
& here, I surrendered to her presence
