Committed to inclusive, rights-based, and sex-positive healthcare, Lauren works at the intersection of sexuality, mental health, and disability, bringing a unique clinical lens to this under-addressed domain of holistic health. As the founder of Back in My Body Therapies, her practice is a direct response to a gap she witnessed repeatedly in healthcare: people living with disability, chronic illness, or injury are routinely left out of conversations about sexuality. The implicit message (that pleasure isn't a priority for injured or disabled bodies) is a myth Lauren is passionate about challenging.

As a registered allied health professional, Lauren supports clients through Medicare Mental Health Care Plans and the NDIS, meaning her work is clinically grounded, ethical, and evidence-based and accessible. Drawing on neuroscience, physiology, somatic approaches, Occupational Therapy frameworks, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Lauren helps her clients develop a genuine, embodied understanding of their body and their sexuality. ACT supports clients in moving through the psychological barriers, avoidance, and difficult emotions that so often sit beneath sexual challenges and dysfunction. Her clients walk away with evidence-informed knowledge of how their body works and practical tools and strategies to reconnect with, or rediscover, their sexuality in ways that feel authentic, adaptable, and accessible to them.

Sessions are available as single appointments or packages, delivered via telehealth or in-person at Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast (Mon-Tues only). Lauren creates a warm, non-judgmental space where questions are welcome, experiences are validated, and sexuality is treated as the legitimate and important dimension of health and wellbeing that it is. She believes that sexual expression and pleasure belong to everyone.
