MASTURBATION MAY Part 1: Start a Sensual Medibation Practice
Masturbation is a natural and healthy part of human sexuality, yet it's often stigmatised and taboo. In a world where we're bombarded with images and messages that promote unrealistic beauty standards and sexualised content, it's important to take time to reconnect with our unique bodies and desires. That's why we've launched a 5-part series through the month of May to explore the joys and benefits of self-pleasure.
Our first challenge is a "medibation," a combination of meditation and self-pleasure. Designed to create a sensually charged and moving meditation practice, it’s about clearing the mind, being present and anchored in your body while connecting to God, source, or the universe.
During this challenge, we encourage you to consider your whole body as an erogenous zone. Instead of going straight to genital stimulation, we want you to incorporate everything; massage, and touch in other areas of the body while being present. You can meditate through your breath, movement, and physical touch. Touch your skin, hair, face, neck, arms, and chest, and allow every part of your body to be a pleasure zone. Move your body, sway, shake your hips, and gyrate.
Incorporating breath, sound, movement, and touch into your meditation practice will enhance your capacity to experience pleasure and activate the nerve endings throughout your whole body. You may prefer to do this in a quiet environment where you can tune into your breath, body, and voice. Otherwise, play some sensual music that encourages you to get into the mood.
Before starting, set an intention. What do you want to feel? What do you want to release? What do you want to connect with?
You may not have a clear intention, but maybe you would like to connect with your sensual body and feminine energy.
This isn't something that has to be a daily practice, but carving out time for yourself on a weekly basis can help fill your cup and give your body a beautiful, self-loving experience. This can change your mindset, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase your energy. When you show up for yourself, you're able to show up for the rest of your life more fully.
This medibation challenge is more than genital touch, it’s about connecting with your body. Once you’ve committed at least 30 to 60 minutes of deep self-connection, and you want to move onto genital pleasure after that, then do so remembering orgasm isn’t the goal.
We hope that this challenge will help you let go of any shame or stigma around self-pleasure and embrace the beauty and joy of connecting with your own body.
Stay tuned for the next challenge in our series!
